Catholic Colleges combine for a Cultural Celebration

7 November 2014

In post-earthquake Christchurch there are many positive initiatives designed to promote collaboration between schools.  These have emerged from the many ‘clusters’ that have been formed across the city.

One such cluster consists of the five Catholic Colleges – Catholic Cathedral College, Marian College, St Bede’s College, St Thomas of Canterbury College, and Villa Maria College.

These schools recently gathered at Catholic Cathedral College for a cultural celebration.  Each College was invited to send up to three items that reflected the cultural diversity of their community.  The evening was a wonderful success in showcasing the vibrancy and talents of our young people, together with the diverse range of cultures.

Kapahaka, Pasifika and Filipino performances were interspersed with a Barber Shop Quartet, Vovoce Choir, and Theatre Sports.  With no competitive element, it was an opportunity to enjoy the range of talents and to celebrate the collaboration of young leaders from each of these Colleges who organised this event.
