On Wednesday 23rd September, three years after the death of Father Kevin O’Grady, the chapel at Christchurch Hospital was filled with friends, families and colleagues of the Father Kevin for the unveiling of a portrait in his memory.
Leanne Brooks (close friend of Father Kevin and organiser) introduced the service and acknowledged all those who had enabled the portrait to come about. Friend and confere, Monsignor Bill Middleton, then spoke of Father Kevin and his 33 years of ministry as hospital chaplain.
After the blessing of the painting, Leanne said, “It’s nice to know that Kevin’s presence is still felt at the hospital as he left his handprint on many hearts. This memorial picture is a small acknowledgement and thanks from his friends, family and hospital family”.
The portrait was painted by John Gillies.
