you to live your life as a priest of the Diocese of Christchurch.  We each hear God’s call in different ways, perhaps an interest or attraction to the life or work of the priest, or the niggling thought that won’t go away.

If you think God might be calling you in this way, check it out by talking to any priest, or contact the Diocesan Vocations Director, Fr John O’Connor, email: vocations.chch@gmail.com or phone 021 444 179.

Thursday has been set aside as a special day to pray for our priests and for vocations to the priesthood.  Small prayer cards and family prayer leaflets are available in church foyers, or visit: www.chch.catholic.org.nz/priesthood

There are five Church services a month at Rolleston Prison on either a Monday or Wednesday. These services are conducted by the Chaplaincy Team.

Burnside, Sockburn and Hornby groups need two more groups to complete the monthly cycle.

If anyone is interested in joining either of those two groups, contact the Prison Chaplain, Maka Tatafu ph 388 8433.

It is an opportunity to be with prisoners in the servicesand to talk with them during the cuppa afterwards.

Each service begins at 6.00pm and finishes at 7.00pm. Every second month, Mass replaces the service.

It is important when a family member enters hospital, that their next of kin or carer, makes sure they are registered as Catholic.

Due to privacy laws, some hospitals do not now provide names of Catholic patients to our Catholic Chaplains. So if a patient or a family wishes to see the Catholic hospital chaplain please ask the ward staff to ensure that the chaplain is contacted.

If you know you will be entering hospital then you are able to ask your parish priest to anoint you prior to going into hospital.

A Catholic priest is always available for urgent calls by asking hospital staff to contact him.
